Grazia Doronzio – Mimì*
Italian soprano Grazia Doronzio is a recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’s prestigious Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. The 2013-2014 season saw her return to Oper Frankfurt as Mimì in La Bohème, Nannetta in Falstaff, followed by her house debut as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte with the Hamburgische Staatsoper. Last season, Ms. Doronzio returned to Michigan Opera Theater for Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, followed by an important debut with Oper Frankfurt as Suzel in L’amico Frtiz. In the spring of 2012 she performed Mimì in La Bohème with Angers Nantes Opéra, Anna in a concert performance of Puccini’s Le Villi at the Dortmund Konzerthaus, Liù in Turandot with Seattle Opera followed by Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. Mrs. Doronzio recently gained great success as Mimì in La Bohème at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, in Amsterdam and in Ancona, as Adina in L'Elisir d’Amore at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and in Düsseldorf, as Zerlina in Don Giovanni in Milwaukee, as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Regio in Turin, as Glauce in Cherubini’s Medea in Geneva.
Plans include: La Bohème with the German Radio Symphony Orchestra in Saarbrücken; she will participate in Don Giovanni at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
Maurizio Barbacini – conductor
Maurizio Barbacini is one of today’s most sought-after opera conductors. In a distinguished career, he has appeared with many of the world’s great opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera New York, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Komische Oper Berlin. In addition, he has held positions as Principal Conductor of the Finnish National Opera, Principal Guest Conductor of the Stockholm Opera and Principal Conductor of the Opera Company of Philadelphia. Recent engagements include: Tosca at the Vlaamse Opera and Werther with Frankfurt Opera, Le Villi and Mese Mariano at the Spoleto Festival USA, Otello at the Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena and in Piacenza.
Amongst his future plans, it is worth mentioning Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Staatstheater in Stuttgart.
